EMR, EHR and PHR: Risk Reduction Strategies in the Physician Office Practice

This two-hour course will focus on the electronic records in the office setting, beginning with the current status of the “Meaningful Use” incentive program as it relates to eligible providers. The course content will transition to a discussion of potential risk management issues that arise with the use of electronic records, followed by strategies to minimize those identified risks. For example, strategies to improve Physician-Patient communication during a visit with the introduction of electronic records, transitioning from paper to electronic records, formatting and usability issues, integration with health information exchanges, downtime processes and other risk and patient safety issues as documented in the medical literature.
