Medical Matters: Six Rules for Physicians
Presented by Steven Berlin, M.D., Lawrence Monahan, M.D. and the Virginia defense counsel
This new program for 2011 will feature a set of rules for Physician practices and an interactive analysis and discussion of medico-legal issues from a series of closed claims scenarios.
This activity, Medical Matters: Six Rules for Physicians, with a beginning date of March 7, 2011, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 2.00 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Objectives
Upon completion of

Identify and discuss clinical and risk management issues presented by the closed case scenarios

Implement risk management strategies to prevent patient injury and reduce liability exposure in the office practice setting
Dr. Steven Berlin is a practicing gynecologist in Baltimore and past president of the Maryland Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is a consultant on a variety of topic areas involving risk management education and practice improvement.
Dr. Lawrence Monahan is a practicing general internal medicine
Physician in Roanoke, VA. He is considered an excellent
teacher and role model for the medical students, interns and
residents he teaches in his position as Clinical Professor of
Internal Medicine at both the University of Virginia School of
Medicine (Roanoke program) and the Virginia College of
Osteopathic Medicine (Blacksburg). He is active in the
American Medical Association and widely published in both
state and national medical journals.
Registration and a light dinner are from
5:30 to 6 p.m.
Program begins promptly at 6 and ends at 8 p.m.
